North Sydney Conversations is a not-for-profit organisation that is funded and run by a group of volunteers in the local electorate.
We were founded in March 2021 to help our local community engage with the democratic process and big issues — particularly the climate emergency.
North Sydney Conversations does not belong to a political party, although our founders Suzy Bessell and Trine Barter have joined the Kylea Tink (independent Federal candidate for North Sydney) campaign team in their personal capacities.
Our group remains dedicated to open, respectful conversations that centre on issues, not politics. Our members come from across the political spectrum, and we recognise that we will only be able to solve the big issues of today by working together, across demographic, industry and political lines.
We thank Liz Tay and Jonnie Kennedy for being an integral part of the team.
Suzy has been campaigning in the North Sydney electorate in support of stronger climate action, including lobbying for the adoption of Zali Steggall MP’s Climate Change Bill. She has been coordinating the Climate Act Now North Sydney group of volunteers since March 2020 and has more recently joined the Kylea Tink (independent Federal candidate for North Sydney) campaign team. She is a former corporate lawyer and business executive.
Trine is a climate change campaigner and philanthropist. She is a Climate Reality Leader and has built a grassroots climate action group in Hunters Hill. Whilst she has recently moved out of the electorate, Trine continues to support the group’s activities. With Suzy, Trine has joined the Kylea Tink (independent Federal candidate for North Sydney) campaign team.
